Who’s Got A Sweet Tooth?
Imagine walking into your local General Store and seeing sweet treats sitting on the counter. What kid, or adult, could resist the temptation? We sure can’t!
Our museum’s General Store display recreates an era of wild-eyed excitement filled with authentic items which were available for purchase “back-in-the-day”.
Included in our very own General Store is an antique candy dispenser filled with delectable treats to include peppermint candies.
While the history of the first peppermint candy is unknown, peppermint oils have been used for centuries for medicinal purposes. Peppermint today is synonymous with lip balm, candy canes, hot chocolate and peppermint bark.
Peppermint candies are commonplace, found at every grocery store and retail outlet…..and the Parma Hilton Historical Society!
We open our museum doors for the start our 2019 season 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 7th. Stop on in, find our General Store, and enter our PEPPERMINT CANDY CONTEST.
Our museum Curator has been busy counting peppermints and we hope you will stop in and count them, too. Leave your name and contact information, along with your guess of how many peppermints are in the General Store’s Candy dispenser.
At the close of our season in October we will announce the winner – and the prize for the winning entry.
It costs nothing to enter, just your time and perhaps a quick trip through memory lane. We’re positive your visit will be mint!
UPDATE: Our contest ended October 27th, 2019, the last day our museum was open for the season. There was one entry with the EXACT count in our candy jar which was 295 pieces. CONGRATULATIONS
