Sage-Knapp Cemetery Tour

Sage-Knapp Cemetery Tour

September 17, 2023 admin

On Saturday September 16th, 2023, we held a tour of one of our local pioneer cemeteries. The Parma Hilton Historical Society partnered with the Parma Public Library, to provide a tour of the Sage-Knapp Cemetery, located on Clarkson-Parma Townline Road across from Stag Creek Trail. The tour highlighted the residents of the cemetery and their significance to the area, including Jonas Knapp (to whom Knapp’s Corners is named after), Nancy Sage Pier Hiler (at 100, the oldest resident in the town of Parma upon her death in 1932), Hiram Sage (Civil War veteran), Jacob Demarest, Hastings Bender (a founder of the village of Rochester), James Billings (Revolutionary War Veteran), and Polly Sigler. The community attendance and support was overwhelming. We look forward to seeing you again at our future tours!

A special thank you to the following:

  • Hilton High School AV Team (Sawyer Dupont, Jesse Mastrin, and Emma Watts) for recording the event.
  • Parma Special Police for directing traffic and parking.
  • Rick Abate for allowing us to use his land for parking.
