Ladies Vintage Baseball Demonstration

The Parma Hilton Historical Society is pleased to announce that we will be cosponsoring Priscilla Porter’s Astonishing Ladies Baseball Club at Experience Parma Day, June 8, along with Hilton Parma Recreation Department.

Did you know that the Priscilla Porters Astonishing Ladies Baseball Club is modeled after a real team? The first known women’s baseball team was from Vassar College in 1866. The uniforms you will see are modeled after one of their teams, the Resolutes from 1876.

Please stop by and watch the ladies demonstrate some of the early ball games that became baseball as we know it today. From the description of some of the early games and the ladies storytelling, this should be a hoot!

Oh, and standby for a history lesson as you see how these ladies catch the ball in the days before baseball gloves were routine.

To get the full “Experience Parma Experience”, all are invited to watch, or participate, in classic baseball games dating back to the origin of the game and beyond.

Experience Parma Day
Hilton Community Center on Henry Street, Hilton
11 a.m.

Free and open to the public.
